Hey colleagues,
just read Ultimaker instructions and figured they have not only improved Marlin significantly, they also mentioned YouMagine as 3D model repository and not MakerBot. Because Olli mentioned he’d also like to live without MakerBot that commercialised community 3D (printable) models. Hopefully that won’t ever happen with YouMagine.
(HERE STARTS OPINION/DISCUSSION)
“We invested in YouMagine because we believe in a sharing platform that is about more than just files. Its audience will grow as designs are there, designers are attracted when there’s an audience. While this seems like a chicken and egg situation, in the Ultimaker community there are thousands of passionate 3D printer users, many of which are designers. We told our friends in the community that we were developing YouMagine and they have just started seeding the site with amazing designs.” (Ultimaker devs)
Ok, its audience will grow is the marketing thing (you know, it sounds like trying to heighten your share-holdings, no offense meant). Surely as long as MakerBot still is used, why not use YouMagine too. In this case, redundancy is no bad thing because search engines are your friend. With deciding which forum topic to read and which not - or which forum and which not - or which content now is state of the art or not, this is a lot more difficult. So that not contradicts my anti-redundancy and anti-not-summarizing in documentation and development discussion. (myself included, too often too confusing)
